FSU Art Education Faculty Lead and Present at Art Education Research Institute

The 4th Annual Art Education Research Institute Symposium was held September 19th-21st at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City, and faculty members of FSU’s Department of Art Education played major roles at the event. The Art Education Research Institute (AERI) is an autonomous, non-profit institute comprised of higher educators actively involved in the production of research and scholarship in visual arts education. This year’s symposium was co-chaired by Dr. Jeff Broome of FSU along with Dr. Kerry Freedman of Northern Illinois University. FSU art education professor, Dr. Rachel Fendler, gave several presentations and played a major role as an AERI Steering Committee Member. AERI seeks to promote a broad range of rigorous research practices and methodologies drawn from the arts, humanities, and social sciences to improve inquiry related to teaching and learning in and through the visual arts. At the conclusion of the event, it was announced that Dr. Broome will again co-chair next year’s symposium and that Dr. Fendler was appointed to serve as the program director.
